SUNDAY’s Sampler Platter – (imagine that).
Not sure if you remember but I recently had a blog entry that included information about Alter Ego pictures. Last night, I posed for my own Alter Ego. Bethsheba Celebration Goddess offering my delicacies to a snooty money bags version of myself. It was done by my friend Byron of Byron Graves Photography. Thanks for doing it, it was great fun!
Here is the blog entry: https://celebrationgoddess.wordpress.com/?s=byron
First you start out with your “real” persona which is Bethsheba. You pose in a position and pretend you are looking at the Alter Ego version of yourself. We took a bunch of pictures of Bethsheba with wacky facial expressions. Next you change clothing and film your Alter Ego. Money Bags Beth put on my most snooty expression, stood on a lift to make me appear higher than Bethsheba plucking a scrumptious morsel off her tray.
An alter-ego (Latin, “the other I”) is a second self, a second personality or persona within a person, who is often oblivious to the persona’s actions. It was coined in the early nineteenth century when dissociative identity disorderwas first described by psychologists. A person with an alter-ego is said to lead a double life.
A distinct meaning for alter-ego can be found in literary analysis, wherein it describes characaters in different works who are psychologically similar, or a fictional character whose behavior, speech or thoughts intentionally represent those of the author. Similarly, alter-ego can be applied to the role or persona taken on by an actor or by other types of performers.
Alter-ego is also used to refer to the different behaviors any person may display in various situations. Related concepts include avatar, doppelgänger, impersonator, and split personality.
What do you think? Pretty damn cool I’d say! If you’d like Byron (he’s really good) to take your pic too, here is his website: http://byrongravesphotography.com/?load=flash
