Goddess of the Soothing of Pain September 22, 2010

WOW WHAT A GODDESS WEDNESDAY – (enjoy learning about a goddess!)

Epione: Within Greek Mythology, Epione was the wife of Asclepius and mother of Panacea, the goddess of medicines and Hygieia, the goddess of health. Though it is not for certain, it is also believed that Epione was the mother to the famous physicians Machaon and Poladarius, who were widely discussed in Homer’s Illiad.  In essence, Epione significance to Greek mythology lies only in her union with her divine husband. As some scholars believe, she was somewhat more of a tool to which Asclepius required to produce offspring. Though this role seems somewhat limited and insignificant, its importance was great as these children ended up having huge impacts on health and medicine.

I feel like the Goddess of Soothing today. I tried to help a family last night. I’m hoping I was successful but now I feel drained. Never give up on the ones you love.

Laugh, learn and liven up your taste buds!
